About the Author
Jim Dowdalls is an art and design instructor who received his bachelor's degree in drawing and painting and a master's degree in bio-medical illustration from California State University. He has instructed classes in drawing and painting, illustration, life drawing, animal drawing, rendering, and bio-medical rendering and illustration. Jim has followed a parallel artistic track in bio-medical Illustration, and his illustrations have won numerous awards from the Society of Illustrators and the Association of Medical Illustrators. Jim has created illustrations for some of the top pharmaceutical and medical products corporations, international advertising agencies, and many of the top periodicals in this country and abroad. Jim is a fulltime faculty member at Fullerton College in Fullerton, California.

Terrific book! Clearly outlines each topic with bonus "Artist tips". Love this book! I have been teaching drawing for 30+ years and I think this book is an asset for anyone wanting to learn how to draw.
I teach drawing and I think this book gives a really great path to follow. Great explanations, good photos and wonderful assignments at the end of each chapter. He builds each chapter on the one before and it is a great way to help students get a good solid understanding from the ground up. Things we are no longer teaching in our schools.Great book.
GREAT BEGINNERS BOOK!
Good instruction book
This book is well planned. I like the approach of the author. There's not too much or too little. It feels just right and the exercises are manageable for several age groups.
This book is full of ideas for great drawing techniques .I highly recommend this book.
