I never thought that I wouldn't enjoy an audio tape from Zig Ziglar. I have listened to several of his CD's over and over again and I get a lot from them. But I wish I had not purchased this one. From the title, I had thought it would be advice on being more optimistic and cheerful. Instead, it is comprised of this: Mr. Ziglar gives a title, recounts an anecdote or vignette for a couple of minutes, and then gives an appropriate bible quote. In itself, that is fine. The problem is that as soon as one anecdote ends, and while you are still mulling over the meaning of it, another one starts. And then another one, and another one! Everything runs into each other in a big hodgepodge, and maybe its just me but my brain felt really agitated, like it was on overload! I was really glad when the first CD ended and I'm not sure I will ever be up to listening to the other three. Too much, all at once!!! A better medium for this would be to have put the stories together in the form of a devotional that could be read, one at a time, on a daily basis.
Zig Ziglar was a fantastic author and speaker. This book in particular, I already owned and purchased a second copy as a gift for a good friend. Sold to me as "New" condition, it arrived dirty with folded corners for bookmarks, dust jacket worn and dog eared and a broken spine. I wound up keeping the copy and gave my book to my friend.
My father is ill and undergoing treatments. This was a birthday gift to keep his hopes up and he loves it!
Who needs encouragement? The answer is "Everyone who has breath needs encouragement." It means everybody around you including yourself.I found this heart warming stories of people with integrity, faith, love,and kindness encouraging me every day. Whenever I read this book, I almost can hear Zig talking to me in his Texan accent. It may appear as just a little book, but through this little book, you will gain a direct access to Zig's life long philosophy, passion, wisdom and encouragement.Read the book and be the person who encourage others around you!
