VICTORIA TSAI is the founder and Chief Treasure Hunter of Tatcha, a modern skin care brand rooted in timeless Japanese beauty rituals. She grew up working in her mother’s Japanese beauty store and went on to spend a decade traveling to Japan and studying Japanese beauty culture alongside geisha and natural skincare scientists. Prior to that she earned degrees from Wellesley College and Harvard Business School. Brilliant marketing tool, but, ultimately, just a love letter to the Tatcha line. If you like Tatcha and use it, there is nothing in this book beyond reinforcement of what the brand believes about its ingredients and philosophy. If you are looking for insight into an asian beauty routine, this covers pretty basic stuff and sticks to the Tatcha ingredient list. Honestly, I use Tatcha, but I know that these ingredients and very similar products can be sourced for a lot less - you're paying for the aspirational quality, the packaging and the story-telling (hence, the book)
Victoria's book was a delightful read! Every page was a treasure trove filled with cultural history, geisha's beauty secrets, and excellent health and skin care advice. Victoria has a warmth of soul and heart that comes out in every word she writes. Her writing is simple, to the point, and kind. This is a definite read; especially for those of us who love her skin care line, Tatsha. I am an avid fan, and I hope to experience more of Victoria's wisdom, both literally and in her skin care research and products.
As with everything Victoria Tsai touches, beauty emanates! A gem of a book brimming with good advice and beautiful illustrations! As much of a journey to another land as it is a roadmap to good skin, this book delights! Thank you beautiful Victoria!
A short, quick read. I paid $11.99 for it and read it in about 30 minutes. Didn’t have enough information in it to make it worthwhile.
If you love Tatcha products, just want to learn more about skincare and self care this is a great little read.
