This was the best Child Neurology textbook I used during residency as an trainee in adult neurology. I had Fenichel's book as well, but I found the Berg text to be so much more helpful. Fenichel was extremely cursory with little substance. I needed more substance in my program so I had both. The Berg was exceptional for cases where I needed to do in depth reading. I eventually read a good bit of the book (although it is an overwhelmingly long text) and did incredibly well on this rotation. I excelled on the wards but then also on standardized testing (where I scored high enough that my supervisors asked why I chose adult neurology instead of child) and then on my formal certification. On the final certification, at that time, an entire section was devoted to pediatric cases (with one to adult cases and then a live adult patient). These wound up easy due to my slow and steady prep.I wish this book would be updated!!! Now there are lots of advances in diagnostics such as genetics and treatments as well.
